The 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29) will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024, with climate finance at the heart of this year’s conference as it aims to better address the funding needs of developing countries for mitigation, adaptation, and loss and damage.
COP 29 is also a critical opportunity to reduce vulnerability, build resilience, and drive impactful adaptation action at a global scale as countries assess the progress of their national adaptation plan (NAP) processes and identify the way forward with a strong focus on implementation and support.
This pivotal moment, with countries updating their nationally determined contributions (NDCs), will be the ideal time for countries to discuss how to advance actions on climate and adaptation by creating synergies between NDCs and NAPs.
The conference in Baku will be an important opportunity to highlight the importance of gender-responsive approaches in NAP processes.
This conference is a meaningful moment for NAP Global Network as it celebrates a milestone: 10 years of support to countries in advancing their NAP processes.
The NAP Global Network Secretariat team will be in Baku closely following these discussions, engaging in key dialogues to enhance national adaptation planning and action, tracking what adaptation-related negotiations will mean for NAP processes in years to come, and connecting with our country partners and donors to celebrate our 10th anniversary.
