The world’s flagship conference dedicated to National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes took place in the Latin America and Caribbean region for the first time. NAP Expo 2023 was the eighth global NAP Expo since 2013 and was held in Santiago, Chile, from March 27 to 30, 2023, on the theme “Scaling Up Adaptation.” Organized by the Least Developed Countries Expert Group under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in partnership with various bodies and organizations, the NAP Expo aimed to raise adaptation ambition by advancing the development and implementation of NAPs.
The NAP Global Network Secretariat team was in Santiago and exchanged experiences and lessons learned on NAP processes, showcased the outcomes of our support to over 60 developing countries, and engaged with government and international organizations representatives, as well as stakeholders from the adaptation community of practitioners.
At this NAP Expo, the NAP Global Network’s activities focused on:
- Scaling up implementation of adaptation through the NAP process
- Challenges and opportunities of vertical integration in the NAP process
- Monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), with a focus on progress reporting.
