Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will be hosting a consultation workshop on Private Sector Engagement in National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Development in Hanoi. This event aims to introduce the NAP process to the private sector, identify the impacts of climate change on the private sector, and gather input from the private sector towards Vietnam’s NAP.
The NAP document will be completed in 2020 and will build on the achievements of the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) from 2012. It will also further accelerate solutions and actions to address the urgent needs of climate adaptation across key sectors and at sub-regional levels. Development and implementation of the NAP process will not be possible without the involvement and engagement of major stakeholders, including those in the private sector. As a critical engine of economic growth, they will contribute to the creation of the jobs needed to support adaptation, will develop products and services needed for societies to become more climate-resilient, and will finance—directly and indirectly—many adaptation actions identified in the NAP.
Technical assistance for the Vietnam government’s development of a NAP Private Sector Engagement Strategy was delivered via the NAP Global Network’s Country Support Hub.
