Rwanda’s Climate Adaptation MEL System in the Human Settlements and Transport Sectors

Rwanda’s approach to climate change adaptation in the human settlement and transport sectors, as part of its nationally determined contribution (NDC), showcases a comprehensive strategy emphasizing data collection and management to address climate change. This strategy involves utilizing data to monitor climate impacts, particularly in urban areas and transport systems, facilitating informed decision-making for infrastructure development and urban planning. Rwanda builds on existing policies and strategies to promote sustainable urbanization and a resilient transport network.

This briefing note reviews adaptation actions and progress indicators in these sectors, offering insights into data management and suggesting future directions for enhancing climate change adaptation efforts.
