On October 11, Colombia’s National Planning Department (DNP) and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS) will co-host the event “Advancing in Climate Change Adaptation: Sectoral Experiences.” The event aims at fostering knowledge sharing and strengthening sectoral capacities in the formulation of adaptation strategies to climate change, contributing to Colombia’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process.
Representatives from the Ministry of Housing, City and Territory (Vice-Ministries of Water and Sanitation, and Housing), and from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism (Directorate of Productivity and Competitiveness) will share their experiences, achievements and lessons learned in the process of formulating sectoral adaptation goals, indicators and adaptation actions. The discussion will also address sector-specific financing strategies to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
Participants from the Ministry of Mining and Energy, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Transportation will share their experiences in adaptation planning during a panel discussion that will also feature Colombia’s Climate Finance Committee
The event is part of the U.S. In-Country Program of Support for Colombia, which seeks to increase awareness, strengthen technical capacities, and facilitate multisectoral engagement in the NAP process. This initiative is implemented by the National Planning Department (DNP) and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS), in collaboration with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), host of the NAP Global Network, with financial support from the Government of the United States.
Taller de Intercambio de Experiencias y Aprendizaje: “Avanzando la Adaptación al Cambio Climático: Experiencias Sectoriales”
El próximo 11 de octubre, el Departamento Nacional de Planeación (DNP) y el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible (MADS) de Colombia serán coanfitriones del taller: “Avanzando en la Adaptación al Cambio Climático: Experiencias Sectoriales”. El taller busca fomentar el intercambio de experiencias y el fortalecimiento de las capacidades sectoriales en la formulación de estrategias de adaptación al cambio climático, contribuyendo al proceso de implementación del Plan Nacional de Adaptación al Cambio Climático (PNACC) del país.
Representantes del Ministerio de Vivienda, Ciudad y Territorio (Viceministerio de Agua y Saneamiento, Viceministerio de Vivienda), y del Ministerio de Comercio, Industria y Turismo (Dirección de Productividad y Competitividad) compartirán sus experiencias, logros y lecciones aprendidas en el proceso de formulación de objetivos sectoriales de adaptación, identificación de metas, indicadores y medidas de adaptación. La discusión también abordará las estrategias de financiación en cada sector para adaptarse a los impactos del cambio climático.
Participantes de los Ministerios de Minas y Energía, Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, y Transporte van a compartir sus experiencias en el planeamiento de adaptación durante el panel de discusión que también contará con la participación del Comité de Gestión Financiera.
El taller es parte del Programa de Apoyo a País de Colombia, el cual que busca fortalecer capacidades técnicas y la participación multisectorial en el proceso del PNACC. Esta iniciativa es implementada por el Departamento Nacional de Planeación (DNP) y el Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible (MADS) en colaboración con el Instituto Internacional para el Desarrollo Sostenible (IISD), a través de la Red Global del PNACC (en inglés NAP Global Network), con el apoyo financiero del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América.
