The Inter-institutional Committee on Climate Change (CICC) is the main coordination mechanism for climate change in Ecuador. National–level authorities from 11 policy sectors have representation and voting power, and three subnational levels of government (regional, municipal, and parish) have representation (without voting power). The Vice-Secretary of Climate Change under the Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition serves as its permanent Secretariat. The CICC coordinates and facilitates the formulation and implementation of national policies and approves national reports and technical instruments relevant to climate change (including the National Adaptation Plan) under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
