Bonn Climate Change Conference (SB50)

The Bonn Climate Change Conference (SB50) features events, meetings and negotiating sessions that will set the stage for raising ambition to curb greenhouse gas emissions, accelerating resilience-building efforts, and ensuring that climate policy is built on a solid foundation of the best available science and knowledge.

Workshop on Gender and Climate Change 

June 16–18 | Upper AHH, UN Campus   

This three-day workshop on the impact of the Lima Work Programme on Gender (LWPG) and its Gender Action Plan (GAP) will be held during SB50. Angie Dazé, NAP Global Network, will take part in “Session 4: Implementation of Priority Area D – Gender-responsive implementation and means of implementation” on June 17.

Work of the LEG in Supporting the LDCs on Adaptation

The Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) will share information on its technical guidance and support to the least-developed countries (LDCs) to advance national adaptation plans, and to produce first NAPs by 2020 and their effective implementation. It will also engage LDCs to share their experiences, challenges and needs. Angie Dazé will introduce the NAP Global Network’s collaboration with the LEG to develop supplementary guidelines on gender-responsiveness in NAPs.

Informal Session: Supplementary Guidelines on Gender-Responsiveness in National Adaptation Plans (NAPs)

This informal session is jointly organized by the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) and the NAP Global Network, with support from the Gender Team at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat. The objective of the session is to seek views and inputs, from UNFCCC parties and observers, on the development of supplementary guidelines on gender-responsiveness in the process of formulating and implementing national adaptation plans.

Technical Expert Meeting on Adaptation 2019

June 25–26 | Chamber Hall, WCCB

The technical examination process on adaptation (TEP-A) was established at COP 21 as part of the enhanced action prior to 2020 in the decision adopting the Paris Agreement. The TEP-A seeks to identify concrete opportunities for strengthening resilience, reducing vulnerabilities, and increasing the understanding and implementation of adaptation actions. The process is organized by the SBSTA and SBI and conducted by the Adaptation Committee. Volunteer organizations are invited to lead the organization of relevant technical expert meetings. The topic for the 2019 TEP-A is “Adaptation finance, including the private sector.

Anne Hammill, NAP Global Network, will be on the panel of “Session 4: Adaptation planning for focusing action and increasing adaptation finance” from 17:30 to 19:00 on Tuesday, June 25.
