Advancing Gender-Responsive National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Processes: State of play and promising examples
NAP Global Network Synthesis Report, 2023–2024
The fourth synthesis report by the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Global Network assesses global progress on integrating gender considerations into NAP processes. This synthesis report is set against the backdrop of global efforts that elevate the need for gender responsive and participatory approaches to climate change adaptation, such as the first global stocktake under the Paris Agreement, the United Arab Emirates Framework for Global Climate Resilience, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) gender action plan.
This report presents the key findings of a systematic review of 56 multisector NAP documents submitted to the UNFCCC as of June 2024, offering a comprehensive analysis of gender integration in these plans. It also includes several promising examples of gender-responsive approaches being applied in practice in our partner countries’ NAP processes. These examples showcase the importance of the broader process that occurs around the NAP documents.
