On May 27 and 28, Saint Lucia’s Department of Sustainable Development (DSD) hosted a series of practical conversations on how to fund and implement Saint Lucia’s national priorities for adapting to climate change, guided by its 2018 National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
The 2-day Adaptation Investment Pitch and Matchmaking Event brought together representatives from three priority sectors—education, tourism, and infrastructure and spatial planning—to present detailed climate change adaptation concept notes to 45 funders and financiers. All three are among the priority sectors under Saint Lucia’s NAP process, and the concept notes were developed from the sectors’ forthcoming sectoral adaptation strategies and action plans.
During the event, participating funders, financiers, and implementing agencies provided feedback and shared insights on how the proposed projects align with existing funding windows and eligibility criteria.
The country-driven proposals aim to advance and implement adaptation actions to protect people, livelihoods, infrastructure, and long-term development to build a more climate-resilient future in Saint Lucia. The Government of Saint Lucia continues to track and report on its NAP progress, most recently releasing its second NAP progress report in March 2026.
This event was hosted through Saint Lucia’s Green Climate Fund NAP Readiness Project, led by DSD and the Department of Economic Development, with support from the NAP Global Network Secretariat, the International Institute for Sustainable Development as project delivery partner.
