Over the past 20 years, Haiti has been one of the three countries most affected by extreme weather events, which are likely to increase given the current rate of global warming. In an attempt to resolve this situation, Haiti launched a NAP process in August 2019 to increase the resilience of the country’s strategic economic sectors.

Adaptation to climate change fosters resilient communities, economies, and ecosystems by considering climate risks in decision making at all levels. National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes must take into account differing backgrounds, genders, and socio-economic realities to be effective.
The third Exchange of Experiences and Dialogue on the Preparation and Implementation of National Adaptation Plans of Latin American Countries took place, where ten representatives from five different countries met to learn more about the tools to assess climate risks and its links to gender equality.
On September 30, 2020, the first Exchange of Experiences and Dialogue on the Preparation and Implementation of National Adaptation Plans of Latin American countries took place, where 22 representatives from eight Latin American countries participated to learn more from the climate change adaptation experiences of others. Daniel Morchain from IISD and María José Pacha from CDKN report back from the event.
