OUR PROGRAM

The NAP Global Network has worked with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to advance the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process in the Dominican Republic since 2022.

Building on the 2015-2030 National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PNACC), the programme has worked with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to advance the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process in the Dominican Republic in developing IVRAs across five development regions of the country since 2025.

These IVRAs will be complemented with the assessments in two remaining regions. Together, the 10 regional IVRAs will contribute to the process of updating the country’s national adaptation plan (NAP).

  • Consultation reports: Summarized findings from multi-stakeholder consultations, providing a foundation for the evaluation of the NAP process and identification of key challenges and opportunities. 
  • Evaluation report of the PNACC 2015: Assessed progress made under the strategic axes and focus areas of the 2015 National Adaptation Plan, capturing lessons learned, evaluating the plan’s design and implementation context, and offering recommendations for its update. 
  • Context analysis report: Analyzed the current status of the NAP process in the Dominican Republic, including available inputs, actions to date, and persisting gaps in adaptation planning and implementation. 
  • Roadmap for updating the NAP document: Outlined critical next steps, key strengths, and areas for improvement to guide the preparation of an updated NAP aligned with current priorities, climate scenarios, and international commitment. 

  • Gender and climate change adaptation training (CSH): Strengthened the capacities of gender focal points across the government aiming to disseminate knowledge and good practices on mainstreaming gender equity consideration into adaptation actions across different ministries.
