Grenada - NAP Global Network

OUR PROGRAM

The NAP Global Network has provided support for Grenada’s NAP process since 2015.

In March 2024, the NAP Global Network and Grenada’s Ministry of Climate Resilience and Environment established an in-country NAP support program.

Our program focused on the following objectives:

updating the NAP document with improved technical input and engagement,

launching public education campaigns, and

implementing a monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) framework to track adaptation progress.

2024

Updated NAP Documents with Strengthened Technical Foundations : Revised and updated Grenada’s NAP to incorporate stronger technical foundations,broaden stakeholder participation, and enhanced design.

Key Lessons Shared Through Stakeholder Engagement and Public Awareness and Education Campaigns: Shared valuable insights and lessons from Grenada’s NAP process through organized stakeholder events and public education campaigns. These efforts helped raise awareness about climate adaptation and resilience-building efforts within local communities.

Monitoring and Evaluation Framework: Implement a robust MEL framework to track Grenada’s adaptation efforts, including a real-time digital monitoring platform that allows implementing agencies to self-report progress achieved

2023

Photo essay on NAP implementation: The essay “Climate Resilience From Mountaintop to Seafloor” highlights how three communities in Grenada are implementing adaptation through the NAP process.

2020

Development of a Technical Analysis of M&E for Adaptation: Through the Country Support Hub, Grenada held a capacity-building workshop on M&E of climate change adaptation and published the report Developing a Climate Adaptation M&E System for Grenada’s NAP.

2019

NDC-NAP Linkages Workshop: Through the Country Support Hub, Grenada held workshop on aligning adaptation in the NAP and NDC.

2016

Caribbean NAP Assembly: Grenada hosted a regional workshop in which 11 countries shared their experiences with the NAP process.

Grenada launched its first NAP document in 2017, that articulate the country’s medium- to long-term adaptation priorities. The NAP was developed through a consultative, Small Island Developing State-specific process that builds on existing policies and strategies. The NAP put forward 12 programs of action and is an instrument to mobilize international financial resources for climate resilience. The NAP document also outlines specific vulnerabilities of sister islands Petite Martinique and Carriacou.
