Argentina - NAP Global Network

The NAP Global Network established an in-country program in 2024 with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, with the aim to strengthen the evidence base for adaptation planning and implementation within the Argentinian agricultural sector.

The support focused on carrying out three separate studies: assessing the availability of groundwater at a national level; analyzing the water deficits and excesses impacts on agricultural production; and studying possible shifts in pest outbreaks and other related diseases in value chains.

2025

Several internal reports and training materials for the study “Projected crop yields due to water deficit and excess in value chains” were completed before the program ended. Two more studies had been scheduled for a later start in 2025.

2024

The Network supported the municipality of Rosario, via its Country Support Hub, with the development climate risk maps. The main focus of the support was to align the subnational adaptation diagnostic tools of Rosario’s 2030 Local Climate Action Plan with the methodology used in the National Plan for Adaptation and Mitigation to Climate Change (PNAyMCC)), as well as promoting a gender inclusive approach in all stages of the iterative adaptation policy cycle.

Argentina submitted its NAP in 2023, outlining its vision for the process. By 2030, Argentina envisions a society that is aware of climate change impacts and equipped to respond through inclusive, science-based adaptation measures. The country aims to build resilience, reduce vulnerabilities—especially among marginalized groups—and promote gender and intergenerational equity. These efforts will contribute to sustainable development and align with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
